Schonbek was founded in 1870 by Adolph Schonbek, who left his grandfather’s glassworks in Bohemia to pursue his dream of making custom crystal chandeliers. Since then, the company has been driven by a spirit of innovation and commitment to true craftsmanship. Over the last 150 years, Schonbek has made extraordinary strides having been granted more than 360 patents. Schonbek has established a presence in the entertainment industry with some of its most dramatic chandeliers appearing in a number of high-profile Hollywood feature films. Still today, the factory and headquarters remain in New York where Schonbek chandeliers are designed and handcrafted with care and passion.

With an intimate knowledge of crystals dating to the 19th century and a team of the most highly skilled artisans, Schonbek continues to be the source of the finest hand-crafted lighting worldwide. The greatest attention to detail comes through in the hand-finishing of exceptional materials, including flawless glass arms of chandeliers, premium aluminum and brass castings and carefully formed steel.
