From the mind and imagination of George Sellers, our in-house sculpture and design director and a mound of clay comes a carved original model of this reclining lion. The original was then cast in plaster and sent to a factory in Italy to be produced in a terracotta based ceramic material in the technique Italians call "calco", whereby terracotta ceramic is packed when wet into a detailed mold. Drying over time, the terracotta ceramic pulls away from the wall of the mold and removed to be fired in a 950 degree kiln, then fired a 2nd time after being glazed in our signature antique white glaze. A design trend and direction we believe in as a company is a return to classicism as inspiration for the future of home decor.
